Twitter is, at its very root, a public forum. By utilizing Twitter correctly you can cleverly market your business, enhance your social life, or break into a new industry. Unfortunately, there are many people out there who do not understand this and they can end up bringing down their business, or destructing their personal relationships, with the whole world watching.

Even if it is your own personal account if it is public then someone you have professional dealings with may eventually see it. Though you could make your personal account locked for friends only, you are better off keeping your Tweets professional at all times.
