Despite the fact that Twitter has already grown to massive proportions, it is definitely not too late to start using this social media site as a way to promote your business. Twitter is free to use, and has propelled many online businesses to great heights. Consider the following when first getting started using Twitter for business.
The first thing you will need to do is create a free account and choose a Twitter name. Do not be disappointed, or surprised, if the name you wish to use is already taken. You may have to think outside the box and be creative when searching for a name this is still relevant to your business. Solid names, or those which do not contain too many crazy letters or punctuation work best.
Be sure to upload a profile photo. While the Twitter egg is attractive, you certainly do not want that to be the photo associated with your business. Your user name and photo go a long way in helping Twitter users determine if they want to follow what you have to say or not.
In order to gain followers, you will first need to follow people. Use the search function to look for individuals that may be interested in your business. For example, if you sell shoes, search for the term “shoe lover.” While this may sound like work, once you are established, followers will arrive with no effort required on your part.
Once you have completed these steps, get to Tweeting. Though you may want to convey the same message over and over, you will need to mix it up in order to keep people interested. Coupons, freebies, and discounts always draw people in, so consider using these to your benefit. Using Twitter for your business is one of the most fun ways to gain more exposure and increase your profits.
